The Quickstart Leagues work very similarly to a little league baseball or soccer program. Here are some details:.
Location: All matches and practices are held at one location. For a list of locations, click in current leagues.
Days and Times: Matches and practice are usually on Sunday afternoons. Check under "current leagues" for more info.
Cost: $75 for the season which includes a uniform shirt, awards, and end of year party.
Ages: The Quickstart Leagues are for kids ages 5-10. On the young end, a player must have turned 5 no later than October 31st of that year. On the older end, a player must turn 11 no earlier than October 31st of that year.
Level of Play: The Quickstart Leagues are for Beginner and Intermediate Players and we have 2 divisions: an 8 and under division geared towards beginner players ages 5-8 and 10 and under geared towards all players ages 9-10 and a few more advanced players ages 7-8.
Seasons: We will have a spring season which take place from the end of April until the beginning of june and a fall season which will take place from the beginning of September until the end of October.
Format: Players will be put on teams. The first week will be an hour team practice. The following and subsequent weeks will be a 45 minute practice followed by a team match.
Team Instruction/Coaching: Different than in years past, teams will be led by a tennis instructor for the practice portion. The instructor will oversee matches, but we highly encourage each team have a parent helper/volunteer that can help with tossing balls and scoring matches.
League Managers: Each Quickstart League will have a PATTA League Manager that oversees the league over the course of the season and will be there for all matches and practices. Additionally each league will also have assistant instructors who will guide practices and oversee match play.
Uniforms: Each player will get a uniform shirt that he or she will be able to keep.
Score Keeping: All scores will be kept on USTA's TennisLink System. The main objectives of Quickstart Leagues are keeping it fun and learning by playing. However, we still keep track of the competition part of the league.
Equipment Balls, Nets, Lines and court equipment will be provided in the program. Players are expected to have racquets so that they can have them to practice outside of the program. However, racquets will be there for players to use if need be.
Awards: At the end of each season, there will be and party where awards will be given out to teams.
Weather: Raindates have been built into the schedule and matches will be made up to the best of our ability.
Registration: Registration instructions can be found under registration to the left.
Calendar: For a timeline of each league, please check under "current leagues" and then the appropriate league. Generally registration will end at the beginning of April and the league will start towards the end of April and run until mid-June.
