The Philadelphia Area Jr. Team Tennis League is a travel league that allows tennis teams to compete throughout the Philadelphia area. There are teams based out of some clubs, but there are also teams that spring up from high school teams or just a group of friends.

The league is a fantastic way to introduce players to competition matches. They will benefit of coming up against players of an equal standard which will no doubt improve their game. All the players have dreams of becoming a tour player one day and earning sponsorship with companies like Nike, www.o2.co.uk and Wilson. This league is great way to take a step towards being the next Roger Federer or Justine Henin. It is a great competition that the children really enjoy. Below are some details and divisions are to the left.

Travel: This is a Philadelphia area wide league, but each division will be divided into flights based geographically.

Season: We have 2 seasons: Spring and Fall. Spring runs mid-May through the end of June and Fall runs September through October.

Fall Format: The format is modified World Team Tennis. Each 12 & under and 14 & under match will consist of one set each of boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles, and two sets mixed doubles. You will need 3 boys and 3 girls to play each match, as a player can play in no more than 2 matches. Each 18 & under match will consist of 3 singles and 2 doubles, and again, one player can play in no more than 2 matches

USTA Membership: USTA Membership is required for all divisions, which is only $18/year.

Costs: In addition to USTA membership, the league fee is $20. This covers the cost of the online administration, Uniformed Shirt, and Awards.

Fall Match Days and Times: All Matches are played on Saturdays.

Courts: Each match should take up 2 courts for 2 hours.

Advancement from Spring League: All teams that win their league may be eligible to advance to the District or Section Championships in the summer of 2010. In order to advance, players must have played at least 3 team matches in the league, as reported on TennisLink.

March 27th: Informational Meeting for Coaches and Team Managers at Tennis Addiction Sports Club in Exton, PA at 1:00pm

April 3rd: Informational Meeting for Coaches and Team Managers at Kinetix Sports Club in Fairview Village, PA at 1:00pm

April 30th : Deadline for coaches to enter team online.

May 2nd: Schedule Comes Out

May 8th: Play Begins for Saturday Leagues

May 12th: Play Begins for Wednesday Night Leagues

May 12th: Play Begins for Wednesday Night Leagues

Late June: League Play Ends
