Jr. Team Tennis

How Do the Leagues Work?

The Philadelphia Area Jr. Team Tennis League is a travel league that allows tennis teams to compete throughout the Philadelphia area. There are teams based out of some clubs, but there are also teams that spring up from high school teams or just a group of friends. Below are some details and divisions are to the left.

Travel: This is a Philadelphia area wide league, but each division will be divided into flights based geographically or by level of play.

Seasons: We currently run leagues in 5 seasons and you'll be able to see more details to the left: Spring (May/June), Fall (Sept/Oct), Early Winter (Nov/Dec), Winter (Jan/Feb), Early Spring (Mar/Apr).

Match Formats: Every division has their own different format. Typically, it'd a coed format with one match each of boys singles, boys doubles, girls singles, girls doubles and two matches of mixed doubles. Some divisions and seasons have 1 mixed doubles or no mixed doubles, and in the fall we do a Boy's Only division as well.

USTA Membership: USTA Membership is required for all divisions and seasons, which is only $20/year.

Costs: In addition to USTA membership, the league fee for each season is $12. This covers the cost of the online administration, Awards, and Background Checks for all Coaches.

Courts: Each match should take up 2 courts for 2 hours.

Advancement from Leagues: All teams that win their divisions may be eligible to advance to the District or Section Championships in July of that Championship Year. In order to advance, players must have played at least 3 team matches in the league, as reported on TennisLink.
