PATTA

PATTA has 2 major programs the organization runs in the spring and summer. Both programs are team based but are for different levels and ages.

PATTA USTA Jr. Team Tennis Travel Team Leagues

The Philadelphia Area Team Tennis Association manages USTA Jr. Team Tennis Leagues for divisions 12 and under, 14 and under, and 18 and under. The main difference between the Quickstart Leagues, is that PATTA only manages the leagues. Presently, we do not manage, run or start teams. Rather teams are managed, ran, and started by area clubs, parents, volunteers, tennis professionals, high school coaches, and even players themselves. These coaches/team managers are in charge of their own teams' rosters, facilities, equipment (tennis balls), practices, etc. The organization is in charge of the scheduling, matches, disputes, and overall management of divisions. Each division has a division coordinator in charge. All players must be USTA members, and there's a $20 league fee which covers a Nike Dri-Fit shirt, awards for the winning team, and online and league admin. Players generally are intermediate or advanced.

PATTA Quickstart Tennis Leagues

Quickstart Leagues are more high-touch, aimed at players ages 5-10. While the Travel Team League teams travel have home and away matches at different locations, everything is at one location for a particular area (example: all Lionville QST League matches and practices are at Downingtown East High School). Everything down to facilities, rosters, schedules, practices, and instruction are managed and done by PATTA. Except for rare circumstances, clubs and outside teams (like the travel team leagues) do not compete in the Quickstart Leagues. The focus is two-fold, act as a fun way to play tennis in a team environment, and expose children to tennis competition- as opposed to clinics and lessons that are usually associated with tennis at that age. Each league has a League Manager in charge of day to day operations, as well as an assistant instructor or two there to help out. USTA membership is not required and the cost is $75 per season which covers practices, uniforms, awards, equipment, and matches.
